NAVARRE, OH
The small village of Navarre, OH, is located in Stark County, about 11 miles southwest of Canton along the Tuscarawas River. Navarre covers a mere two square miles of land, home to a population of less than 2,000 people.
Incorporated in 1872, Navarre promotes itself as A Friendly Hometown at the Bend of the River. Its known as the home of Orlando Poe, a U.S. Army officer and engineer who oversaw much of the lighthouse construction on the Great Lakes in the late 1800s. Shops and businesses in the early years thrived thanks to the Ohio & Erie Canal. Today Navarre boasts broad, tree-lined streets and quaint structures relating to the villages historical past. Residents consider Navarre an ideal blend of past and present.
